In the past blogs were only used to express themselves but now, blogs are regarded as powerful marketing mediums. They are now used by companies and individuals to educate their readers or a specific target audience.
Below are the most common uses of Blogs:
EduBlogs
Teachers can use blogs within the class:
- Students can use blogs for their assignments
- Students can write the summary of lessons
- They can post comments in each others posts
- Peer learning.. they can correct each others grammatical mistakes
- Classroom projects with videos,text, images, etc.
- For puzzles, activities and games
- Etc..
Some of the members of my groups PINOY ANXIETY DEPRESSION GROUP (a Filipino group of people who are suffering from anxiety and depression) and DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY WORLDWIDE create blogs as their personal diary.
They post opinions, experiences, thoughts about the automatic negative thoughts, bipolar thoughts. The followers of these blogs has the same viewpoint as the writer.
Informal Engagement
Businesses also use blogs as informal engagement with people or their followers. Blogs facilitate the informal interactions efficiently so that they can get feedbacks from target audience to improve the company's performance.
Building a Community
Blogs are also used to build a community of followers whom they can serve. They build a steady base of audience. Followers can refer them to others. Blogs permit informal interactions with the community.
The company can reach the whole world using blogs. The followers can interact with each other.
Rich Media Portfolios
Blogs can be used by artists like amateur painters, photographers, filmmaker to showcase via Youtube since youtube videos can be embedded in blogs.Artists can also use blogs as a static website of their portfolios which they can show to the company they are applying for. This can also build their followers. This can affect their ranking in the search engines.
Blogs are now engagement and marketing channels. You must be aware of their different uses then decide how to employ them.
